Spectaculary outmanouvred
Monday, January 27th, 2003 01:05 pmWell, last night had another go with cdparanoia and oggenc but failed again. I thought I'd managed to rip the CD successfully this time with cdparanoia -B but it did it in about 10 minutes so I wasn't at all sure it had worked. Then tried oggenc and got meself an error message. Told skel who told me how to fix it, which I did tho I forgot to do it as su and ended up typing the stuff twice! oops. Then tried oggenc again but this time it jibbled about input files :( I think I'll have yet another go today at some point.
Bill and Tom came over and we got takeaway (at 2am!!!) which was nice cos having missed dinner by virtue of being on a train. We talked for a bit and ended up having a theological debate - Tom and I against Bill. Then Bill left at about 3.15 abd I talked to Tom for about 10 minutes alone about stuff then he went too.
Having had about 3 hours sleep got up and went to work. Nasty headwind made cycling more work than usual and aftereffects of cold made it even more difficult. Their father was home having just got off nights and was in a good mood...and singing! He watched me have a coughing fit andnearly dosed me with Benelyn...ugh *Trapper pulls a face*...took me 5 mins of protestation before he eventually got the message and started gloating. "You don't *like* taking medicine do you?" says he. "No" says I "that's an advantage of being away from home...I don't have to..." Anyway, he laughed and teased me about it for ages. Sat with the kids while they got ready for school then 5 minutes before we were due to go Andy (their father) had Beks bring me a yougat and a banana. Which I had to eat before I left. I protested but he said he was just following his orders. Then when I continued to protest he threatened to dock pay! I ate the yogart and tried to escape. He wanted top see me eat the banana. I confessed that I don't like them and was presented with an apple instead. ANdy then told the kids to nag me until I ate it and said he'd ask 1)them and 2)me tonight. he then told me I'm not a natrual liar (well duh!) and apparnetly I go a bit red, smile slightly and touch my ear when I'm lying. He's been a customs official for 14 years and has been trained to spot liars. Apparently the ear thing is the clincher. BAH! Anyways, I ate the apple, but I'm not happy about how easily I was outmanouvred! (ok, i do think it's kinda funny...) Grr! :P
