I think that very soon I am going to go postal...or at least really, really, really mad.

I was looking this morning for something to watch and find that BBC1 is devoting about 2 hours to "Diana: A Service of Thanksgiving", and that ITV1 is following suit. That's both main channels broadcasting exactly the same drivel. I don't care! She was just a woman - a woman who actually had it pretty easy. It's easy to do all the things she did when you have money. Even divorce is made easier when you have money. FFS. She was just a woman. Mother Theresa has also been dead 10 years. She did far more good. Why aren't we seeing 2 hour long thanksgiving services for her? She did far far far more good than Diana.

Argh!

Even the sky box is revolting - it just had a hissy fit and needed rebooting. Clearly it has good taste.

It is easier to mourn the past than change the future.

Can you imagine if everyone used today to protest against landmines? Or join a HIV/AIDS hospice befriending service? Or remembered a life in some way other than commemorating a death?

Ah well. Catch up on teleport replay?

To be honest, I have no real problem with people remembering, I just don't want to be subjected to it on two different main channels, the news, the internet, whatever. Rememberance should be a private matter if people really care that much about it. The comments here (http://newsforums.bbc.co.uk/nol/thread.jspa?sortBy=2&threadID=7204&edition=1&ttl=20070831150018&#paginator) at least help me realise that I'm not alone in how I feel about this :)

The media are clearly insane. I just hope the mass hysteria thing doesn't happen again...

$ky boxes *are* revolting ;)

I hope not too. Though to some extent it has, which is scary. The way people reacted when it happened was just embarrassing :|

Unfortunately we can't get cable in Canterbury or we'd have a cable box instead :(

I felt the same way as it was happening after she'd died. It's just pissing me off more and more and more as the years go by and it's not dying down. Argh! *hug*

Makes me glad I don't have a TV...

I wonder just how much these meaningless piles of fail cost to produce. Money would have been much better spent on "good causes" and actually helping people.

Grumble.

It's all driving me mad too! It's very sad that anyone should die so young, but unfortunately there are car accidents every day, and I don't know why anyone except her family and friends has to keep talking about it all.

Yes. And it's been that way almost since it happened. At least it'll be over soon...until next year >.

you are all so right. I am so glad to be at work, My main worry is that it will all be repeated ad nauseum tonight and over the weekend,

Perhaps you should plan a weekend away from the tv!

:( That's really out of order. I can't believe it's such a huge thing in America too! It's taking over :(

Ah well, at least you now know there are also plenty of sane people in the world :)

I feel exactly the same way. it's sad for her children that she died, but there's no need to keep repeating the mass hysteria year upon year, and having to hear about it constantly. Gives me justification as to why I rarely watch TV!

It's certainly encouraging me to watch less telly! You've just summed up rather succinctly how I feel ;) I should have had you write the post in the first place :)
