Last weekend ben and I watched some programs about "Monty Python's Life of Brian", including one called "The Secret Life of Brian" which showed the televised debate about Life of Brian between Palin and Cleese for the Pythons and The Bishop of Southwark and Malcolm Muggeridge on the case for the opposition. Look at the very top link for a run down of the debate.

On searching youtube for it I came across General Synod's "Life of Christ" which was a Not the Nine O'Clock News sketch from the next week, taking the piss out of the debate (which itself seemed farcical in places). It's really screamingly funny. See below for the video (unfortunately the sound on it is very quiet).

Curry tonight to celebrate ben's getting old (last Thursday) :D Mmm Curry :D

I watched a bit of that, then realised it was rich white guys bitching with other rich white guys, and ran away screaming.

I have low minority tolerance.

The Secret..."
I just saw all these people giving absolutist perspectives on TLoB, when they weren't everyone in the world at all. If it had been funny it would have been ok, but the fairly serious topic of censorship being discussed by people with the most freedom of speech as a demographic is kinda squicky.

Am I being trolly? Sorry :/

Not really. I was confused cos I thought you were talking about the Not the Nine O'Clock News sketch and with that in mind what you said didn't make any sense to me :)

At the time TLoB came out, there were serious freedom of speech concerns about it, regardless of the general demographic of its creators. Just because someone doesn't happen to be minority of the week doesn't mean their opinion is any less valid. In fighting to release TLoB they did us all a favour.

Not TLoB, the Secret... programme.
It ended with anglo saxons saying how much more difficult it would be to make TLoB these days cos everything is so very PC.

I disagreed.
