Bank Holiday TeeVee

lizziecI've got a cold. I woke myself up totally at 4:30 this morning coughing and haven't been able to go back to sleep yet.
I decided, at some point (perhaps half past 6?) to look at the TV listings for today, a bank holiday.
BBC1 will use the afternoon to show The Sound of Music, and simultaneously ITV will show Zulu. I have been moved to wonder, just what kind of bank holiday would it be without these films? Would the TV companies even have anything to show? The only thing missing today is The Great Escape. I think they showed that at Easter ;)
