5 year old priorities
Saturday, May 27th, 2006 09:32 pmSo I went round to my friend Sue's yesterday evening, and her five year old son, Paul came over to talk to me. Sue asked him if he had any news he'd like to tell me. He looked puzzled. He thought for a moment, bounced up and down and then almost breathlessly said:
"Today at school I was a monitor and I got a sticker"
I looked suitably impressed (and a little amused, I must confess). Then Sue and I prompted him again - is there anything else he wanted to tell me?
Again he looked a little confused and looked over at his mum. Then he seemed to remember what it was he should tell me.
"Next week I'm going to the beach!"
Again, I tried to look suitably impressed, though I really wanted to giggle. Again we prompted him - is there any other news you want to tell me? He looked really confused this time. He went over to his mum and she whispered in his ear and finally he remembered.
"My mummy is pregnant and I'm going to have another brother or sister!"
I have it on good authority that the day before he was so excited he could barely contain himself. Bless him, 5 year olds are so cute!
So yes, my friend Sue is pregnant, and I have to admit that I'm actually quite excited too ;) I'm even knitting in my spare time! (spare time? What's that?)
In other news, I went to see X3 tonight. Judgement reserved until I've thought a little more about it. I was a little disappointed - I think the first two were better, but I shall think about it some more and perhaps issue a more measured judgement tomorrow ;)
