I'm going to write a webpage about [livejournal.com profile] benc and I's wedding, and I would love some contributions from you guys. You all have such different perceptions of the preparations and the day itself and I would love to have these from you so I can get a much more rounded picture of what it was all like and represent lots of different sides to it, rather than just the "Bride and Groom" perspective.

[livejournal.com profile] no1typo inspired this request - I think it's a really excellent one, so if you have any comments or memories about the wedding, or the lead up to it, or the aftermath then please comment below (leaving the name you would want to be seen as on the webpage) or email me at weddingmemories@carina.org.uk. This is open to anyone :)

I want to see lots of memories! Get cracking ;)

In (sort of) chronological order, the 20 things I remember most are:

1. The big, friendly Woodmansterne tree carving - letting me know I was in the right place and hadn't got lost!

2. Meeting people I knew of but had never met before - Xiphi, red_pill, etc - plus all those I hadn't seen for a couple of years!

3. The club sandwich at the pub. Sheer uberness.

4. Ben appearing so calm and organised!

5. Lizzie wanting to get married "NOW!" :)

6. Hot bridesmaid(!)

7. red_pill looking smart.

8. General happiness!

9. Courteous traffic stopping on the road so we could take photos across it to the church entrance.

10. Moof wearing that hat...

11. Ben shouting "If you know what IRC means..." when rallying people for a photo.

12. Someone pointing out that I should be in said photo.

13. Me telling Ben's dad how to use the camera without realising he is already a w00t Canon user.

14. Allan and Nert doing all the drinks and stuff! Top chaps!

15. The speeches! I have been to a lot of weddings lately. These were good.

16. Missing out on the profiteroles because I was too busy taking photos :(

17. Fun with glowing bracelet thingies.

18. Moof dancing to "It's raining men". Gravity-defying.

19. Red Pill going bonkers on the dancefloor :)

20. Driving home to Wiltshire that night and wishing I was staying longer!

Natalya and I turning up late, hot and sweaty due to the M25, and hiding behind the church door boggling at the sermon (which defied my feeble attempts to translate into BSL) while waiting for a suitibly noisy bit to mask our flustered entrance. Then sneaking in during a hymn to a reassuring wink from Moof.

Do you not remember that we snuck into the best place, where Ben and Lizzie were signing the registers, and that everyone had HUGE grins on their faces.

Type being really lovely and hugging us, recognising who we were (dressed in black as always) and feeling welcome immediately.

Erm, Moof asking me if he was audible enough during speeches (which he was) and making a rude comment about how he wasn't like Elton John...

The hypermanic waiters Alan (who I'd only seen on video and heard stories about) and Nert?

Speeches, actually funny (well maybe not to the nongeeks, but hey) and the double-act was classy!

Lizzie with glowing glowsticks - as evidenced in many of the photographs...

Both Lizzie and Ben being very calm and relaxed looking, friendly (first time I'd met either IRL) and enjoying things as they happened.

The sensible serving drinks to everyone as soon as possible because it was quite warm, then releasing the food straight after speeches *grin*. A wedding where people ate and enjoyed the food - fantastic food too!

I spent most of the wedding unable to walk properly, so talked a lot to Vash, Padme, Rince and then outside (where it was warm!) with Pao, Marcus? and the other guy who's name I've forgotten.

We then gave Pao and Mrspao a lift back to their hotel en route to Croydon. Our GPS+Laptop was much envied and I believe the final persuasion for Pao to buy shiny!

I'll read through my LJ entry from the event and see if there's anything I missed and send you more...

* Not being able to get to sleep the night before, but still waking up and feeling very awake.
* Driving to woodmansterne (running a bit late) and getting a phone call from a worried red_pill wondering where we were.
* Azz hooking his laptop up to the PA system with a brilliant hardware bodge.
* Christine arriving with the cake and food, seeming very relaxed.
* Ubersandwich at the woodman, and seeing a load of people. Most of whom were asking "shouldn't you be doing something" ;)
* Offering a fiver for the woodman's charity jar for a load of ice, and carrying over to the hall in binbags.
* Balloons. Lots of Balloons.
* Realising time was getting on and rushing to get changed and get to the church.
* Getting to church and forgetting the buttonholes. Kudos to Ben Tanner for bringing them (and having his phone turned on!)
* Standing around just having to wait. Feeling nervous...
* Being utterly and completely overwhelmed seeing you coming down the aisle
* The sermon of mentalness.
* Feet aching (having been running around all morning) and having to stand still.
* I DO!
* Those little bastard children...
* All our lovely friends who just took over serving drinks. You guys were awesome.
* Pie!
* First (and second) Dance
* Glow Sticks!
* Jake losing his helium balloon, and finding another for him
* Taxi driver who thankfully didn't want to chat...
* Lemonade.
