It starts with a recap of the performances from earlier. Graham asks Cameron what he thinks the finalists will be like as Nancy. He says Jodie is a film or "traditional" Nancy, and Jessie is rawer and more like the book (Dickens) Nancy. Andrew says the finalists need to have the "Sacred Fire" of star quality (which is how he described Jessie earlier, making a point to the audience at home that they should vote for her I think).

Jodie goes first. She goes for the cockney accent, which she pulls off fairly well actually, and it doesn't deminish the clarity of her words. She was mostly in tune, though her final note was a little off to start with, but she got in onto the actual note very quickly. Jessie goes next. She tries the cockney accent and what she ends up with is something a little Sean Conneryish (it's the "s"'s), but it was in tune (until her final note when she did exactly the same thing Jodie did). I preferred Jodie's performance. ALW says he didn't think anyone could sustain Jessie's level of intensity, and said Jodie's performance was safe.

The cut Nancys and Olivers sing Take That's "Never Forget" - a poor choice. It has spectacle going for it, but all these performers have proven to be best with a show tune, and some of the Nancys show why they were cut (and I think most of them struggled with the pop song). Still, it made a nice break from the competition. I would still like them to get a move on - I want to know who has won already!

Now they're going head to head. Jodie first, then Jessie.

Jodie: "I Have Nothing". I'm disappointed she chose this - "Send in the Clowns" would have nailed the role for her I think, but she performs it well, better than when she first sang it. It was all in tune, her diction was good, and she acted what she could of it. I really wish she'd chosen something else, I think it would have given her a better chance and put her on an even footing in this head to head against Jessie who has chosen her strongest song (I don't think Jodie did).

Jessie: "The Man that Got Away". The right decision here - this was undoubtedly her best performance of the series and I think she did it better than she did the first time, but I am still not convinced by her. She is undoubtedly a good singer (in tune, to time, etc) but as they keep pointing out, this role needs an actress (and someone who can move confidently around the stage) and I don't think that they will have that if Jessie wins.

Asked who they think is Nancy, John say Jodie, Denise says Jodie, Barry says Jessie, Cameron says Jessie and ALW says Jessie. I'm really wondering what Barry, Cameron and ALW see in Jessie TBH. I'm being rather mean and partisan here now, I know, but I want Jodie to win. For Jessie to win would be a disaster I think.

Now Graham is announcing the winner and I am really really nervous (though not as nervous as the Nancys clearly are!).

Jodie wins. Thank goodness for that. John and Denise (understandably) look the happiest of the panel. Cameron says he's "thrilled for Jodie", side stepping the question of whether he's happy. Jessie looks crushed (much more than Keith last year I think). Understandably. I'm pleased though. I think it was the right result.

I voted for Jodie - none of them were ideal but she was the best of the bunch :-). 3 cheers for Blackpool!

I should imagine that they told the panel to arrange a 50/50 split amongst themselves :-), but Andrew definitely wanted Jessie to win!
