Ooh, the final Nancys all have new costumes - red variants on their original ones, with a petticoat of the original colour poking out the bottom - essentially a reverse of the previous costumes. They all look very nice.

All the Nancys and Olivers perform in the opening song - "I'd Do Anything". It's really lovely to see lost faces, and have the full sound of everyone singing - with just three of them it would have been a little weedy. Graham's line made me laugh. Graham reminds everyone after the opening number that it's not just a talent competition - it's a casting competition and the right decision must be made. Lee Mead will be making an appearance later (yay! :D), and reveals Liza Minelli will be shown in a segment later.

The Nancys are off to Paris, and there's a segment with them talking about their journey along with the numbers you can vote for them on (from now). Cameron tries to point out that it's not just about the best singer and that the audience should leave having had their hearts broken (the most moving performance) not just having heard a great song. He also mentions Rachel and her performance last week in conjunction with the moving performance which makes me think he disagreed with who ALW saved last week. ALW says Samantha is the heartstopper, Jodie is the heartwarmer and Jessie is the heartbreaker. As Cameron just talked about people having their hearts broken while watching the musical I wonder if this a nod to who they want to win (Jessie).

Jodie: Singing "Son of a Preacher Man". Starts well with her diction - I could hear every word. Her seemed pretty solid as well (a little hairy right at the bottom of her range I think, but mostly spot on). Pity that at some points her voice was sort of lost against the orchestra and backing singers - maybe the audio mix wasn't quite right? A good performance but not as good as last week I don't think. Cameron says that she convinced him she could be Nancy and deserves to be in the final. John says she is "believable, believable, believable" and that he looks forward to playing opposite her in a guest performance as a leading man. ALW says it was a very good performance (but isn't sure it would be a winning performance) - lots of boos accompany his comments.

Samantha: Singing "Anyone Who Had A Heart". Tuning spot on to start with (though some odd notes in the middle), for some reason I felt she was about to burst in to tears during it - I think that means she convinced me with her acting this time. Denise says Samantha has the voice of Nancy and says she developed the most, but sometimes "sits on the fence emotionally", perhaps due to her age and how she does depends on the director (echoing ALW saying Liza Minelli's comments before the performance). Barry says the West End needs her. ALW says his question marks are over her stamina for 8 shows a week and her taking direction properly (possibly referring to Denise's comment).

Jessie: Singing "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face". Benefitted by being seated and singing a ballad, whoever chose her song really played to her stregnths tonight (as ALW says, she can sing a ballad as well as anyone her age). Her tuning was good and it sounded lovely, but she still sings from the side of her mouth so won't be getting my vote. Jessie says she is "so ready" for the part. John says he was captivated and says she has a superb voice, but he is worried about her consitancy and compares her to a baseball player (sometimes Home Runs, sometimes Strike Out) and that worries him as a leading man, Cameron says she was born to play Nancy and "it's about the material...not the delivery." ALW agrees with Cameron (and now I'm certain I know who Cameron and ALW want to win - you can tell from the comments they really want Jessie to win IMO).

The Olivers are to perform duets with their favourite Nancys (I'm skeptical - all three Nancys have to sing and all three Olivers, so there may have been an element of choice and favourite Nancy, but I'm not sure it worked out exactly that way.

Laurence and Jodie are singing "Getting to Know You" from the King and I. I really enjoyed this performance. The tuning and timing were spot on, they both seemed like they were enjoying it. I was convinced anyway ;)

Harry and Samantha sing "Singing in the Rain". There's no doubt that Samantha is the most confident mover left, but I was less convinced by her performance. Perhaps it's because the song is less of a duet than "Getting To Know You" - I dunno, I can't put my finger on it. It was a good performance but I preferred the previous one.

Gwion and Jessie tackle "Truly Scruptious". I may be imagining this, but I think there's less dancing/movement in this than the previous two (at least not as complicated as the Sam/Harry one I think). It was a very "nice" performance and she didn't look as awkward as usual in her movement at least, but I think bottom of the three as I'd rank them (with Jodie/Laurence first and Samantha/Harry second).

Cameron disagrees, saying Jessie/Gwion stood out. ALW agrees with Cameron, adding that Jodie "really came through".

VT of the Nancys tutoring sessions with Liza Minelli. She thinks they're all wonderful. The Nancys now perform "Maybe This Time". It was a brilliant performance, all spot on tuning wise (impressive as the audience were so loud in places their voices were nearly lost). This song really shows the problem of this year's competition I think - at the heart of it, vocally, the finalists are all much of a muchness, making choosing the right person more difficult than in previous years when the winner was head and shoulders above the competition at least by this stage of the competition. At the end the lines are frozen and Lee Mead is on performing "Any Dream Will Do" with all the Olivers while they tally the votes. It was a great performance, of a standard that I'm not sure any of the Nancys are at right now, but I hope they would be by this time next year. Hmm. Lee says his money would be on Jodie (the audience goes wild), and says all three are superb. Then he runs off to perform in tonight's show.

As Graham does the results, all three look like they're bricking it. Jessie and Jodie could still be Nancy, Samantha goes home, which I think is the predictable result after last week. ALW says it's the result he was expecting.

Lines are re-opened with votes from earlier carrying over:
Jessie: 0901 121 20 03
Jodie: 0901 121 20 01
