Stupid Gerbil

lizziecI am not very happy with Stan (the gerbil in the icon). I was handling him and he jumped from my arm to the floor, ran under my desk and when I used a long tube (formerly used for wrapping paper) to try and coax him out, as most manuals recommend, he didn't run through it like the manuals suggested he should, he started to shred it instead.
Then he ran out from under my desk, jumped my waiting hands, ran into the kitchen (thankfully not suffocating in the carrier bag pile he originally ran in to), through my legs back into the hall where he tried to burrow behind vindaloo before eventually trying to climb the curtain hanging from the front door to keep out drafts. I managed to catch him as he climbed and returned him to the tank. He originally wasn't very happy, but now, 20 minutes later he is better enough to be stealing seeds from my hands at a rate of more than one at a time. I suspect it will be me who has the lasting trauma, not him!
