Jodie: Seemed lucky with the song choice - I seem to think of it as a musical theatre song more than a big band song. Nicely performed in my opinion, but not her best performance by a long, but it was well pitched, timed and acted, not seeming to run away from her as an up tempo song like this could. Impressive, should get her into next week.

Sarah: Another safe performance from Sarah, by which I mean nicely tuned and timed. She is one of the most consistant performers on this show and I always enjoy her performances. I didn't really like the number, but she was clearly in control of it and performed it nicely. Like Jodie's performance, not my favourite of hers, but should be enough to see her through to next week.

Rachel: I didn't enjoy this performance, but I have to be honest in that I'm not really a Rachel fan. It was a techincally good performance and she will be back next week. The tuning and timing were good, with one very noticable disasterous squeak of a note part way through the song, but I suspect it will not be enough to see her in the sing off. Seemed to try and act the song.

Samantha: ALW's face betrays that he really likes Samantha. Not sure she really acted the song, but she certainly enjoyed her performance, and managed with the singing and the dancing admirably and much more successfully than say Niamh last week in that she was in tune and in time. Another one I think who will be safe.

Ugh. Barry Humphries letched all over the previous two contestants while giving them his "notes", such as they were. Feel slightly ill now.

I'm also a little concerned. The first four performances have been pretty good and none of them seem to deserve to be in the bottom two. Suspect that this week will be tight, and I probably wouldn't blame ALW for throwing a hissy fit this week.

Cameron Macintosh seems to have taken over the Olivers, which seems right, given it will be his production. Harry goes through to the Semi's, and looks relieved. Given how few spots are left I'm not surprised. Not so impressed with their HSM performance, it's not so good as some of their other performances (maybe because it's less Musical Theatre and more tweenie pop).

Niamh: ALW singing Niamh's praises, clearly trying to convince the public not to put her in the bottom two again. Her voice disappears on the bottom notes, and singing of singing off key, she slides off key herself. Interesting after last week's disaster with up tempo she's been given another slow song, which is clearly less of a disaster than her up tempo numbers. I'm not convinced by her "acting" either. Her performance has left me unconvinced and I'd be quite happy to see her in the bottom two again to be honest. Last week exposed some serious cracks in her performance and this week has not even started to paper over them again. The judges disagree with me however. We'll see I suppose.

Jessie: Still singing out of the side of her mouth, but less so I think this week. The slower number has benefitted her and has let her acting come through (finally). It has also showed off the work she's clearly done on her posture. A nice, understated performance that has maybe started me warming to her again.

Ashley: Costume department still not happy with her. After last week's binliner she appears to be wearing a curtain from a strip joint or ladies bathroom. I'm not a fan of her extremely clipped phrases or fake american accent, which just comes out sounding rather odd, with some definite scots coming through. I didn't rate this performance really. It just did nothing for me, and left me more irritated with her phrasing than impressed at her performance.

Who Will Buy was good fun, but I didn't enjoy it as much as last week's Pick a Pocket. Noticed Ashley's voice didn't come across well, seemed one of the weaker ones of the ladies singing.

Has ALW dyed his hair?!

If I were to name performers to go into the sing off this week I'd choose Niamh and Ashley. I don't really care which goes and which stays. Finding it hard to pick a favourite performance. Ashley and Niamh were the worst and everyone else was just much of a muchness for me really. I haven't really enjoyed Big Band Week if I'm honest. I don't think the songs were as interesting or varied as previous weeks.

[Edit - Sunday] I find myself wishing we could have seen more of the acting task, rather than tiny snippets and the talking heads. It would help us, the viewing public, to vote on the singing and the acting as we keep being told we should.

Sarah is the Oliver's favourite Nancy.

John says Jodie isn't Nancy, Denise plumps for Sarah and Barry says Ashley.

Sarah and Rachel are in the sing off. If the Lord were to throw a fit right now and say it was the wrong result I'd agree with him (unlike last week). Rachel is my least favourite of the two in the sing off (I'm quite a Sarah fan) and I'd rather see her go home.

Sing off song is "As If I'd Never Said Goodbye" from Sunset Boulevard. I preferred Sarah's performance of it (both vocally and acting wise), and her voice dominated Rachel's.

ALW saves Rachel. I think it's the wrong result, because I could have seen Sarah playing Nancy. She was also one of the most consistent of the girls left. I disagree that Rachel is more solid than Sarah and wonder if he's playing games like he was with Ben in ADWD last year. Hmm.

I was impressed with just how professionally Sarah handled ALW's decision. What a great attitude.
