This weekend [livejournal.com profile] benc decided to do something nice and as we had spare eggs and it's rather horrible out there we chose to make cake. We shopped for chocolate chips and made a 6oz Chocolate Chip cake.

It's very nice ;)

Before it went in the oven

Just cutting into it

Cross section (it's funny to see how the chocolate chips have stayed at the level they were went it went in the oven and the rest of the cake has risen. It's created a rather amusing effect - wonder if there's a way to make the chips rise with the cake?)

Spending today watching Ancient Rome: The Rise and Fall of an Empire on UKTV History. It's very good :)

Coating sultanas in flour before adding them helps to stop them sink, i wonder if coating the chocolate chips in flour first would help in this case....

Simple -- attach armbands to the chocolate chips.

As the above comment said, coating things like chocolate chips, raisins and cherries in the dry ingredients (usually flour) prevents them from sinking in the cake, but I also think that a little bit of baking soda (or baking powder, or something like that... can't quite remember!) helps too! There is an excuse to bake another cake for the reasons of experimentation ;o)
