well woppty bloody doo. threating force is only going to make it more likely iran will build a bomb. threating this kind of shit just leads to a game of who has the bigger stick, where nuck trumps all
corse, a nuke bulit and lanched from iran would probly be out of rang of the us, and eroupe. idiots all around
Much as alot of US foreign policy sucks and they may not have the wisest of leaders at the moment, the US is a (reasonably) stable nation bound by several nuclear treaties against things like proliferation and first use (iirc). Much the same can be said of other established nuclear powers, the UK amongst them.
The nuclear stockpiles of these nations were built up as a by-product of the cold war, and today remain an esential part of the balance of power in the world. For all their potential to cause havoc, they're actually something of stabalising force, because the idea is they will never be used. Additionally there are long established safegaurds protecting them.
The problem with any new nuclear power is that it potentially alters the balance of power, and with our already unstable world and the fact that Iran is sitting in a rather unstable region anyway, Iran's aquisition of nuclear weapons is not good for stability.
Iran isn't a particulary stable nation itself, it's been what, only about 30 years since the revolution. It's known to have had links to international terrorism, it's virtually a theocracy, and quite frankly the idea of any religion controlling nuclear weapons terrifys me.
All of the safegaurds protecting nuclear weapons in other nations may not be established, potentially leading to proliferation, accidents, and weapons going missing. These have happened in the past in some instances, weapons have gone missing, accidents have happened, some of this has had disasterous consequences, and some still might and there have been too many near misses by far.
The world doesn't need any more nukes, it already has more than enough.
