[livejournal.com profile] rahslowe went in to labour late last night and is currently in Hospital. Please do not text or call them at the moment, as they are understandably busy with other things ;) Will update again with more news when I get it (which will probably not be until Sproglet has been born).

On mum's birthday we went to Hampton Court Palace (click for pictures). It was a lovely day :)

This week is part of the Easter Holidays for schools, and Sue asked me if I would like to go with her and three of her children to Wildwood. It seemed like a nice way to spend my afternoon so I agreed. Here are the pictures of what I did my afternoon :)

Wild Boar Piglets

Badgers

Polecat

It was a lovely day :)

I've just been informed that my lovely amazing Godson has taken his first steps :D

I am very proud indeed :D

In other news, spent a brilliant evening playing Guitar Heroes 1, 2 and 3 with Ben and Adam and eating curry. Mmm, curry :)

[livejournal.com profile] lisaofdoom posted about this on her LJ and I thought it was sufficiently funny that it had to be shared some more:

What if people bought cars like they buy computers?

My favourite one:
Helpline:
"General Motors Helpline, how can I help you?"
Customer:
"Hi! I just bought my first car, and I chose your car because it has automatic transmission, cruise control, power steering, power brakes, and power door locks."
Helpline:
"Thanks for buying our car. How can I help you?"
Customer:
"How do I work it?"
Helpline:
"Do you know how to drive?"
Customer:
"Do I know how to what?"
Helpline:
"Do you know how to DRIVE?"
Customer:
"I'm not a technical person! I just want to go places in my car!"

ION: I'm babysitting John today for half an hour - he's known as spottyman at the moment as he has Chicken Pox and is absolutely covered! After that ben and I are off to buy our christmas tree. Yay :D Pictures later. Maybe ;)

Please note before I start that though it may not seem like it, I do not actually spend much time bitching about my depression, especially here.

I fucking hate my fucking illness. I woke up this morning in a good mood despite my inability to sleep properly (trouble getting to sleep and then staying asleep. 4am and I are becoming well aquainted and according to the pharmacy I can't have any over the counter drugs to help, so I guess I'd better speak to Dr K :/). I enjoyed the drive to my mum's (the weather was such that driving was really fun) where I abandoned Ben and then headed to my first CBB gather. Everyone was very nice and I had fun, but I came out ready to cry having made a really rather hasty getaway. I think I overdid it and to use a [livejournal.com profile] baraktaism (hopefully correctly) I think I just ran out of spoons at the end/did not have enough spoons to do what I was attempting to. Managed to calm down on the walk to the station and did not cry, but really really pissed with myself.

The gather itself was nice. People were lovely and I met lots of new people (everyone) who were all very welcoming and friendly and we ate lots of varied food (Lizzie-friendly rockyroad [no nuts :D], crispy cakes, sausage rolls [turns out there is such a thing as too many sausage rolls]) and lots of other stuff. I spent lots of time hiding behind a lovely large cushion cos I was freaked and talked too much about many things, lots of which probably weren't appropriate. Next time I shall try to be more Sotto ;) Played some games - the present game and an articulate type thing but with CBB words. The team I was on won, but that was largely down to the scary Chalet knowledge of Xanthe and Liss, then I ran away cos I was tired and getting panicky.

In all, it was really nice and I'd do it again, but maybe I should wait until I'm more betterer. Or something.

Have a meme I stole from [livejournal.com profile] greenfurrymoose. Ben also did it and is pretty much the exact opposite.

I had an eventful afternoon planned, but it turned out way more eventful than I planned in a completely different way to how I planned.

I went to pick up Becky and Paul from school. Our afternoon would revolve around Becky's orchestra at 5pm, so I planned for the children to do half an hour's homework, then take Becky to orchestra and then Paul and I would go get some ice cream at maccyd's before coming home and waiting till their mum came home with Becky (having picked her up after orchestra) as she had a late meeting and their dad was working also.

What actually happened was that we got home and found Tom in tears because his wrist hurt him. He tripped over while playing football before school and he had landed heavily on his right hand. He had been to the school office several times over the course of the day and pretty much nothing had been done. Noone had been notified, he'd had an icepack for part of one lesson and it had been "bandaged" shortly before the end of school. When I say bandaged what I mean is, not bandaged so their was any support, but bandaged with a wound bandage which was pitifly small and unsupportive and certainly not suitable for a wrist injury.

As a result of his obvious pain and unable to do anything for it I bundled the kids in the car and took Tom to the Minor Injuries Unit at the K&C. Picked up ben on the way (this proved to be a brainwave) and got there, finally, despite and not because of Canterbury rush hour traffic.

I'll say this for them. When you have a child in pain, they really rush you through. I stayed with Tom and Ben stayed with Paul and Becky in the children's waiting room. Talked all sorts of shit to Tom to try and take his mind off it. Had him tell me his Christmas list. Get the feeling he'll be dissappointed as there was only like 2 items that cost less than £100 ;)

Anyway, Andy turned up just before a nurse practitioner came to see Tom with the XRay results and stuff so I took the other two home via asda for much needed petrol for the car and sweeties for two very good children.

Tom now has his right hand in plaster. He chipped the base of his thumb so techincally he broke his wrist. No wonder he was in so much pain.

Bless.

Looked after the kids again on Friday. First time I've picked them up from school in an age. It was lovely to spend some time with them again and they were very sweet. Paul was very tired. Ended up carrying him part way home and he rested his head on my shoulder and said that he was glad I'd picked them up from school and he's wanted me to for ages because he wants to see me more often.

I felt so guilty.

I need to go round more often when they're actually awake clearly.

We had ice cream. Yum. Paul got more on his nose than in his mouth I think.

Need to tidy up now. Flat a tip and typomamma and pill coming tomorrow. Yay for seeing them. Boo for flat tidying.

So, I went to Legoland. And I returned. Albeit much redder than I went. I got quite badly sunburned :(

On the upside, today was really fun and cool, if tiring. Ta to my friend Sue who made it all happen :)

I have a lego brick ice cube tray now and a yoda lego keyring. Ben has a lego R2D2 keyring and a dinosaur model.

So there are pictures :D

All 135 of them.

Favourites include:

Dinosaur on the Loose!

Gold diggers succeed!

And, omg! The PICK A BRICK store!
Huge tubs of the kind that house pick n mix, except they are full of lego bricks!

I swear, you could find any bricks you wanted there! And if you can't, I have it on good authority that you can order it, though I doubt that any place that can devote an entire container to red single bricks with eyes printed on them then the chances are they have the brick you are looking for.

Just. Dude! :D

Woo :D

I'm off to Legoland today with Sue and the sprogs :D Becky has already decreed that I go on lots of water rides with her so I may get a little wet ;)
lizziec: (animals - gerbil - stan eating)
So I went round to my friend Sue's yesterday evening, and her five year old son, Paul came over to talk to me. Sue asked him if he had any news he'd like to tell me. He looked puzzled. He thought for a moment, bounced up and down and then almost breathlessly said:

"Today at school I was a monitor and I got a sticker"

I looked suitably impressed (and a little amused, I must confess). Then Sue and I prompted him again - is there anything else he wanted to tell me?

Again he looked a little confused and looked over at his mum. Then he seemed to remember what it was he should tell me.

"Next week I'm going to the beach!"

Again, I tried to look suitably impressed, though I really wanted to giggle. Again we prompted him - is there any other news you want to tell me? He looked really confused this time. He went over to his mum and she whispered in his ear and finally he remembered.

"My mummy is pregnant and I'm going to have another brother or sister!"

I have it on good authority that the day before he was so excited he could barely contain himself. Bless him, 5 year olds are so cute!

So yes, my friend Sue is pregnant, and I have to admit that I'm actually quite excited too ;) I'm even knitting in my spare time! (spare time? What's that?)

In other news, I went to see X3 tonight. Judgement reserved until I've thought a little more about it. I was a little disappointed - I think the first two were better, but I shall think about it some more and perhaps issue a more measured judgement tomorrow ;)

Having *finally* got an ADSL connection (albeit a very flaky one) at 6mc I have uploaded all the pictures that were waiting :)

Ph33r :P

You remember the story of me getting in contact with an old friend? Well the 29th May was her birthday so I toodled along to her house for the party. I had a lovely time, especially making use of the trampoline :P Piccies of that event (including me on the trampoline here.

My last shift with the children was on Friday morning and I got some of the most fun and beautiful presents I could ever have wished for. I got a bear and a thing full of hot chocolate and a game for two to play in the bath >:) The cards and letters were the worst though. I didn't cry when I was there but I came back home and *howled* about it all. PIctures of almost everything (including becky's letter which is by far the worst) are here.

My results were posted on the boards at the back of the library at 5pm on Friday. I swore I would not be involved in the scrum that ensues once the humanities guy turns up with the lists, but after a little encouragement from ben, there I was, right in the middle. I went back yesterday to preserve the result for posterity ;) I'm glad I won't have to do *that* wait ever again!

Samphire Hoe is where Ben and I went after I got my degree results. I was so full of nervous energy the walk did me good. It was really beautiful though Ben suffered because of the high concentration of pollen there. Well worth a visit. For more info see this.

Finally, yesterday I got round to setting up aragorn despite the lack of desk... Aragorn's new home is perched on top of two Dell boxes and another computer - see this picture for how unstable the whole arrangement actually looks ;)

Ok - all piccies done now - have a look, especially at the Samphire Hoe ones :)

*bumbles off*

Edit: I forgot to mention the lovely rainbow I saw a few days ago :) Go look! :D

It was very hot yesterday, 25 celcius and the air was quite stuffy. I just woke up to the sound of torrential rain outside and there's a lovely cool breeze with it. Everything is fresh and lovely :)

So, what does a geek do when it's too hot?

Well if that geek is me then they go out to the beach at Whitstable and then for a drive along the coast all the way to reculver. That geek will then take lots of pictures and have a generally lovely time exploring the Kent countryside.

My favourite picture.

Ben also took some pictures (lots and lots of them ;)). His are here. He has some really great ones of waves breaking. Take a look and you'll see what I mean :D

I also got other pics off my camera last night, including dinner at Supernoodles with the Monkeys and Ewan who I had never met before. He's certainly an *experience*. I quite liked him :) Before I met him I only knew him as the guy Allan taped into a phone box (the last frame, bottom row here.) Anyway, that was great fun :)

I also put up my pictures of a stray cat taht turned up at the kids house one day. It was a very sweet cat ;)

Tomorrow am off to London for Wedding Dress Fabric :O Quite excited. WIll be heading home tonight to [livejournal.com profile] _44l (which contains my lovely mummy, [livejournal.com profile] no1typo and my brother, [livejournal.com profile] red_pill) tonight :D

Can't think of anything more to say so that's about it from me :P

If you're ever stuck for something to do on a nice day though, drive out to Reculver along the coast road. You will not regret it :)

I feel rather better now about the mormon thing I mentioned in my last post, largely because of something ben said ("We should be glad he's in the top 100, after all he proves at least one fiftieth of the United States to be idiots").

Last night at work was funny. Becky was doing an international week quiz for school. One of the questions was "Where was Mozart born?" Becky said... ) I asked Tom if he knew. Thomas said... ) Mozart was really born in... ) The other amusing answer was to the question "Which country has two official languages, English and French?". Becky guessed at... )

Was a very amusing evening :) I'll miss those kids :|

I currently have a part time job working with two lovely children who live and go to school near UKC. I graduate this July and I'm looking for someone to hand the job over to. There will be a 5 year old boy and a 9 year old girl, both really nice children. Hours are 7:45-8:45 in the morning and 3:30-5/6 in the evening. Pay is £5-6p/h which usually works out between £60 and £80 per week. School holidays you get off and days off are fairly easy to arrange. It's a good job and I'd really like to find my replacement so I know the children will be in good hands :)

If you are interested please email me at livejournal at carina dot org dot uk or comment for more details :)

I woke up in a good mood. I was on time for work...again...second morning in a row. I had nothing vitally important to do. Yet I still ended up getting very very down to the point where I found communication a problem. Made ben suffer through a lunch time with me and went and hid for an hour in a corner somewhere. Made myself go to work. Met ellie just as I was coming out of hiding place. She was concerened about me nad gave me a hug and said if I needed her I should call. It started to pull me up, but I spent most of the rest of the day just feeling empty and drained. I went to work and sat and froze for an hour while tom ran around so we could be lazy and didn't have to go back to the school for becky, illi, dani and alice (all of whom I take home on a thursday)

Work finished late, called mum and had a chat (she's bringing Phil down tonight for the weekend \o/) and then when I was halfway down the hill I called ben...then i went back to wait for him. I wasn't going to call him cos I thought he needed an evening off from me, but eventually did. He seemed pleased I came back anyway.

So...got back to ben's place and I checked my email...turns out that following my reasessment I only have to pay £744 in Tuition fees \o/ - the lea have to pay about 1/3 of them - which would mean that I'm definately eligable for more loan, so now I just have to wait for it to arrive, Thank God. Things have been a bit hairy of late, but now I can actually start paying off what I owe UKC and buying some books I need. *breathes sigh of relief*

Ben did chicken rice for dinner. Was nice. Stayed the night. Slept well...

Need to get dressed now... ;)

Today was really a mix of ups and downs and am feeling quite bouncy right now which is nice :)

Work was average and having dropped the kids at school I met ben and we went in together the rest of the way. I sat in his office for a bit then on a PPC for a bit. Rah came online and we chatted online for a bit, then met up and went to mungoes and talked some more which was all really jibbly. Added point one for today to my little book of positives which my doctor asked me to keep. Talking to rah made me feel happy.

I had lunch with her and foo and ben and that was nice. Got work done in afternoon then off to work where I started to suffer a mood drop which got steadily worse as the afternoon went on. I channeled it into something vaguely productive late evening then went and had snacks with ben (and made by the same :))

He went off on bus to town for beer and currage and I walked with him as far as eliot. Then I sat moaning cos I didn't want to go to choir for half an hour. But good things came of it.

I met Ellie.

She sat next to me totally by chance and wasn't feeling very well. We got talking and I said I nearly hadn't come to choir. You know what she said. She said she was glad I had. I put that in my book cos it made me happy and we got talking. SHe;s recovering from an eating disorder and suffers from anxiety and talking was really good. I'm giving her the .oggs of the mass in c tomorrow and we're going to have coffee at 11am and meet up before the concert on saturday. She's lovely and talking to her really helped. Almost enjoyed choir - first in a while.

Came back down the hill. Jibbled with claire and rah. Claire went to cook cakes for the SU and Rah and I had kudos, then heard foo was on way back so made up the ultimate scrabble game of doom in which we used all the letters available. Basically we made up the longest highest scoring words we could and pretended it had been a proper game to wind foo up. Foo wasn't wound up but that made me happy as well.

Now I'm tired and I want ben and my mood is starting to dip again.

So I will go to bed.

Cos it's 12:30 ;)

Weekends

As a rule, I love weekends. They're great cos I don't have to do any work and I get to lie in.

This weekend sucked.

I woke up on Saturday at silly times and when I managed to get back to sleep I ended up sleeping away the whole morning. Was in a crappy mood so ben ended up coming round and making me go out. I did some washing up and had a bacon sarnie then we went to town for what we presumed would be just a couple of hours.

As usual we lost our whole day there. We wandered round, had starbucks and brought each other little things for Saturday was our 3 month engagement anniversary. I got my ring back from the jewellers where it was being mended and they cleaned it so it was all shiny too. Just about to go to Safeway to shop when we got a call from Chris and Eileen offering to buy us coffee so off we went and met them, seeing a [livejournal.com profile] nert on the way.

Ended up shopping in Sainsburies. Car was tight squeeze. Dropped my food back at 19b then ran back to car so got lift to fr. Had half home made half store brought chinese/thai and was muchos nice. Slept for a bit and then got lift back with adam cos he's lovely.

Ended up sleeping at 2:30ish.

Was up the next day at 7am :(

Had all day choir rehersal and was bad tempered and sulky. Was very very tired. Sulked all the walk home and then ben and I curled up and slept a bit. Felt better for that. Was going to have Sausages and bread for tea but ended up with just bread cos ben burnt the sausages from the inside out. They were "special".

Ben massaged my back and then went home for an "early" night. I fell asleep almost straight away.

Weekend tiring.

Feel very bleh this morning.

Luckily work was good and beks was very very well behaved. Don't think I could have delt with her otherwise.

Mum has gotten on the waiting list for a secondment to the princes trust as a team leader which will be a welcome change of scenery for her :D I'm very very happy for her :D

*notes late for semnar*
*notes she doesn't want to go*

I woke up at..well, look at the time, despite the fact it's a weekend and I didn't sleep well. Gonna try sleeping again soon.. Maybe I woke cos of the soreness in wisdom tooth that is coming thru :/

Yesterday was late for work again. Have to sort myself out. Kids were good. Got them to school and lost bycycle/car race for the first time in a while. Sat around reading and IRCing till coffee then went and worked in the rocks room.

Had nice lunch in origins with ben adn foo and rah. Honey and ginger chicken rocks :D

Sat around reading for another hour then off to work. Seemed to drag, esp. after 5pm when the kids start getting restless. Still, completed the week and came back and watched CSI and ate pizza.

Town today. Need to motivate myself to go.
